Summit Hill Junior High School
This 161,500 square foot junior high school accommodates 7th and 8th graders with classrooms that are separated from multi-purpose spaces. The main hallway is accentuated with clerestory windows allowing ample daylight as students circulate between major spaces. The cafetorium successfully integrates both the cafeteria function and the auditorium needs of this school. As a cafeteria, 300 students eat lunch on slightly tiered multiple levels that are completely handicapped accessible. When set up as an auditorium, over 650 spectators have excellent views to an elevated stage that features superior acoustics, and excellent lighting. The school has been designed to allow the cafetorium and gymnasium wing to be utilized at night and on weekends without access to the school.
